Vertigo is characterized by a spinning sensation or a loss of balance, even when stationary. Those suffering from vertigo often feel sudden dizziness and disorientation. Nearly 40% of American adults will experience vertigo at some point in their lives.
Vertigo is a symptom of multiple conditions rather than a disease itself. It’s essential to consult your chiropractor or healthcare provider to determine and address the root cause of your vertigo.

There are 2 main types of vertigo, essentially separating the inner ear root causes from the nervous system root causes:
What causes vertigo?
Vertigo is often caused by inner ear balance dysfunction or brain problems. Below is a list of causes of inner ear dysfunction, brain problems that result in dizziness, and vertigo:
These risk factors for vertigo increase the chances of facing vertigo symptoms in the future:
Vertigo may be common, but it’s not normal. If you’ve experienced more than one episode of sudden-onset dizziness, you should seek medical attention from a chiropractor right away. If it’s an emergency, go to the ER.
What’s normal: When you stand up, your blood pressure slightly lowers for a few seconds. Sudden drops in blood pressure can cause dizziness and lightheadedness, but the blood pressure change when standing should not cause full-on vertigo for the average person.
What’s not normal: Chronic vertigo is cause for concern. If you’re getting dizzy all the time, you should ask your healthcare provider for medical advice or treatment ASAP. Yes, you’re at higher risk of vertigo as you get older, but that doesn’t mean that vertigo is “normal” for older people.
At Denver Upper Cervical Chiropractic, Dr. Ty Carzoli and his team serve Cherry Creek residents by ensuring proper alignment of the upper spine. Correcting the alignment of the top two vertebrae (atlas and axis) can alleviate vertigo and other health issues.
Our chiropractic adjustments are gentle and precise, suitable for all ages. We use specialized instruments to target specific areas of your neck and spine without any “neck cracking.”
Many Cherry Creek patients visit us after unsuccessful attempts with the Epley maneuver. While we can perform the Epley maneuver in-office, it is not our primary treatment approach.
I strongly recommend visiting DUCC if you're suffering from stubborn neck pain. After injuring my neck in a ski accident four years ago, I tried a handful of potential "solutions" to mitigate the pain, but nothing worked. I felt pain when driving, running, and certainly skiing. Within a couple months, Dr. Ty's unique therapeutic approach allowed me to ski all day with no discomfort, and I've continued to receive treatment for over ten months now. Certainly the best investment I've ever made in my health. I hope it works for you, too!!
Dr. Ty and Zyle are AMAZING! So glad I got referred to them and I would happily refer anyone else. If you are having any back pain - vertigo symptoms - or even just want to understand more about your alignment and health, treat yourself and visit Dr. Ty!!!
Dr. Carzoli and his awesome team (Hi Zyle!) saved me not just from dire back pain, but another Dr's misdiagnosis. I arrived having needed a cane due to the first back injury of my life, and was prepared for a future of reduced athletic output and pain management. Imagine being told you can never run, or ski, or dance again - I was in a dire state. Quickly, Dr. Carzoli gave me much better assessments - including even a second opinion virtually, on the spot, and following up with the original mis-diagnosis office. His treatment was specific, with terrific exposition and explainers for each exercise and adjustment. Furthermore, his team's care helped me prepare myself for preventing another injury, and better understand the holistic health towards root issues. I've tossed the pain meds and am now active again. I cannot say thanks enough!!
I cannot emphasis enough how much of an impact seeing Ty has had on my life. I'm facing I disk replacement surgery and when I sought out Ty's help, I was desperate. My left arm had gone totally numb and I had lost most of the muscle that just carrying in grocery's would tire my arm out. I was panicking, because I have been doing everything I can to stay as healthy as possible until the inevitable day comes that I have to have the surgery. He has been able to get the numbness to subside, and I even have strength back in my arm. I just got this birthday treat from Ty. Little things like these are what separate the decent providers from that ones that actually care about their patients and their health. Highly recommended. Don't even think twice, just give him a call and set up an appointment, you'll be glad you did.
